The East Coast Festival of Choirs and Voices

Saturday 2nd November 2019

The Festival of Choirs and Voices is a day when we celebrate choral singing. It is not a competition seeking the best or something that we judge or score. We believe each choir is unique and brings to the celebration their own style and music they enjoy singing. By sharing in the celebration, choirs not only perform in front of a responsive audience but are able to learn from each other of the many and varied musical opportunities encompassed within the choral music traditions.

So we welcome all, from small singing groups to large choirs, from church choirs and gospel choirs to operatic choruses, from show music to popular traditions, from mixed choirs to male voice and ladies choirs, from groups singing for fun to community choirs. In short all means all! You choose your own programme and deliver it in a 20-30 minute slot

Time Allocation and Performance Sessions

The time allocation depends on the number of choirs taking part. Initially  we are planning to hold the event across a number of sessions throughout the day. One possible morning session (10.30 to 12.30) and two afternoon sessions.(1:30pm to 3:30pm and 4.00pm to 6:00pm)  Sessions to be confirmed after closing date for entry.

Entry Fee and Venue

There is no entry fee but we do have a voluntary collection to help offset our costs. So if your choir has only just started or you belong to a long-standing choral group this one-day festival has been created for you to enjoy. It takes place at Christ Church Bridlington where the acoustics favour choral singing. We have a concert grand piano, especially tuned for the event for accompaniment. If you prefer, ityou can bring you own portable instrument or sing to a backing track. Choir leaders wishing to familiarise themselves with the venue are welcomes to do so. Simply contact the Festival Director to arrange a day and time for a visit.
